The Global Social Business Summit – The Gathering 2019 will have an outstanding character as we will work on the next 30 years of the social business and microfinance movement.

Therefore, this year´s Global Social Business Summit will bring together the social business and microfinance family – the closest circle of inspirational speakers and opinion leaders from the social business and microfinance movement, private sectors, civil societies, governments and academia.

During two days of meetings, forums and workshops, this event will be decisive of the next years of the social business and microfinance movement as the most noble of social business entrepreneurs worldwide will build taskforces ahead of The SuperHappYYness Festival on the 28th of June 2020, in which framework Professor Yunus will celebrate his notable 80th Birthday, and where the results of the working groups will be presented. The topics of the event will cover poverty reduction, entrepreneurship creation, the environment and climate change, health, education, sports, arts and culture – with a view to generate commitments and action plans from all those attending. Our collective goal will be to charter a path that we’ll follow collectively for the next 30 years, to transform the planet by 2050 and build a new civilization.

The Global Social Business Summit, Berlin - The Gathering 2019 will be framed by the Social Business Academia Conference as well as the Young Challengers Pioneers Meeting on November 5-6th.

The Young ChallengersYoung Pioneers Meeting on the 5th – 6th of November 2019 in BerlinGermany is the pre-event of The Global Social Business Summit that is open to young individuals up to the age of 35. Young Challengers are explorers of Social Business who are in the beginning of their journey while the Young Pioneers are Social Business entrepreneurs with at least 2 years of experience in the field of Social Business. We will also be welcoming  Young Talents, who are young corporate leaders who would like to learn the Social Business basics, to deepen their understanding and to establish first ideas and business models within their workplace to attend the meeting alongside you.

Interactive sessions will endeavor the power of creativity and imagination, prepare for pitches of newly developed entrepreneurship ideas focused on “sport & social business”“environment & social business”“art & social business”“life & social business” as well as microfinance to a group of Social Business experts. Be surrounded by highly engaged, like-minded Young Challengers, Young Pioneers and Young Talents that are eager to make a change in the world we live in. The 1st Social Business Environment Forum will take place on 8th November 2019 in the context of the Global Social Business Summit 2019 – The Gathering. The forum is hosted by Yunus Environment Hub and PREVENT Waste Alliance, a multi-stakeholder partnership that brings together actors from the private sector, academia, civil society and governmental institutions launched by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development Germany. The alliance wants to contribute to minimising waste, eliminating pollutants and maximising the reuse of resources in the economy worldwide with a priority on the reduction of waste pollution in low and middle-income countries. The objective of the Social Business Environment Forum is to connect expertise, discuss and identify how the social business concept can be applied and play an integral role in the work of the PREVENT Waste Alliance and advance the development of a circular economy through social business. The one day event will take place on the 8th of November 2019 in Cafe Moskau in Berlin.

In the morning Nobel Peace Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus and a representative of the PREVENT Waste Alliance will open the forum and the thematic stage will be set. Four workshops, in which concrete social business ideas are jointly developed, will call for creativity and active participation in the afternoon. The workshops will focus on circular economy solutions and cover relevant PREVENT Waste Alliance topics, such as:
• Prevention of plastic waste (from packaging)
• Use of secondary plastic materials
• E-Waste refurbishment
• Including the informal sector in waste collection (within an EPR scheme)
